Koh Racha Yai Bay 1 & 2
Diving at Racha Yai bay 1 & 2 offers gentle conditions & calm waters for scuba divers to explore, sheltered from any monsoon winds from June to September. The first two bays are home to native corals & marine life, & several small ship wrecks, scuttled intentionally to provide artificial reef to enhance & conserve the delicate underwater ecosystem.
Diving at Racha Yai Bay 1 & 2
Wreck diving is possible between Racha Yai bay 1 & 2 as two 25 meter intentionally sunk wrecks sit upright in shallow water. The wrecks are complimented & reinforced by further artificial reef structures sitting in slightly deeper water further out. The artificial reefs were created after the natural corals in the shallows were damaged by coral bleaching in 2008. The regeneration of the corals alongside the flourishing marine life started almost immediately & further artificial have recently been added. The usually excellent underwater visibility, along with the colourful & interesting aquatic life provides some excellent Phuket scuba diving options for day trips.
